Xerxes

#302/500

Xerxes, the skeletal guardian of the Sahur Desert, had roamed the vast expanse of sand for centuries. No one knew how he came to be, but there were stories that he was cursed by the god Ezrus himself, or perhaps by some other deity. Regardless of his origins, Xerxes had become the protector of the desert and all those who dared to cross its scorching sands.

With his scythe in hand and his glowing gold eyes fixed on any who approached, Xerxes would use his mastery of Ki energy to determine whether they were worthy to enter the desert. Those deemed unworthy were turned away, sometimes with a warning and sometimes with force. But those who were judged worthy by Xerxes would be allowed to enter the desert, guided by the skeletal guardian’s watchful eye.

Many travelers had encountered Xerxes on their journeys, and though he was fearsome to behold, they all knew that he was the only thing standing between them and the unforgiving desert. Some claimed that they could hear him whispering to them in the wind, warning them of dangers ahead or guiding them towards hidden oases.

Despite his fearsome reputation, Xerxes was a solitary creature, content to roam the desert alone. But there were whispers among the desert dwellers that a great danger was coming, one that even the mighty Xerxes might not be able to fend off. And as the winds began to pick up and the sand began to swirl, Xerxes knew that he would soon face his greatest challenge yet.
